Spacing on locksolid flooring

My contractor wants to reduce the spacing of 5/16th's on my Mannington Adura Lock Solid vinyl tile recommended by the manufacturer down to 4/16th's because he would have to make spacers and he says that he thinks that 5/16th's is overkill. I would prefer to follow the manufacturer's instructions. Any thoughts on spacing recommendations?

If you want the warranty on the flooring you need it installed per the mfr specifications. If you contractor is going to give the same warranty as the mfr in writing then let otherwise find another contractor.
