Durable, moisture-resistant floors

Hi all,

We are remodeling a house and looking to put in consistent flooring throughout the bedrooms, kitchen and living area. The house is on the water and is susceptible to a lot of moister. The last hardwood oak floor warped and rotted and our neighbors have all sworn off hardwood, so I don't think hardwood is a viable option.

We would prefer engineered, but are concerned about durability (with a dog and young children) as well as the moisture. Are there any brands you would recommend?

Laminate seems to be the most durable, but I hesitate putting it into a mid to high end beach house. We have been looking at the Pergo XP.

We have a number of friends who have put in wood-like tile, but that seems a little hard and uncomfortable, especially for a clumsy toddler.

Would appreciate any suggestions! Thanks!
