Laminate over tile

I just closed on my house about 5 months ago. It was build in 2004 and is a slab foundation. Prior to my buying the entire living room and hallways were redone in laminate flooring. My bathrooms, kitchen, and sun room still have the original tile and I hate it.

I want to extend the laminate into the kitchen and sun room eventually. They left behind several boxes of the laminate so matching it is no problem. What I have a problem with is if I should remove the old tile first or not. I know that removing the tile would result in a smooth transition from room to room, which is what I would prefer.

When my home inspection was done the inspector said it would be easier to just lay the laminate over the tile since my kitchen is 10x20. The problem with that being that I have a 4 foot long crack in the tile. The inspector (a former home builder for 20+ years) said this wouldn't be a problem, but I'm hesitant to place new floor over a cracked floor. What do you guys think?
