| Some years ago, I foolishly painted my slab. (although it was a pretty good imitation of tile- if I do say so myself) But now that funds are available to really put down tile, Ineed to prep and remove the apint. I used a primer and reg. latex paints then topped it off with a waterbased clear sealer. Before the paint, it had old 8x8 tiles with the black cutback adhesive. I used Lestoil and lots of hot water to remove most if not all of that.I dont want to sand /grind_too much dust. So do i have any alternatives? |

| You can always use another material other than tile. But the adhesion of the thinset is compromised by the porous concrete absorbing all of the materials you tried to dissolve the cutback with. You'd have to sand to a significant depth to be able to not be dealing with contaminated concrete. |
