Remodeling a basement room that previously had carpet. Removal of carpet revealed areas along the perimeter and doorways where an adhesive was used.

Floor has been cleaned and scraped in areas with glue but some glue residue remains. I suspect it would require a very potent solvent or grinding to remove every trace of the adhesive.

the floor in the room is to be tiled. Does the remnant adhesive need to be removed completely?
