beware of lumber liqidators!!!!

My experience: I bought 6,000 dollars worth of 3/8"engineered and placed the spline and stair nosing on order because they "were temporarily out of stock". I never did get any spline and had to cut my own which doesn't work too well. The stair nosing that I waited a month for never showed up. Store manager Terry in St. Louis does not return phone calls. Called corporate and found out that the stair nosing never was available for my floor! Corporate management (Ken Cannon) does not return calls either. Think twice before buying from this company. I got screwed big time! You can email me for more info if you want to. dbellchamber@charter.net

there has been hundreds of postings about dealing with LL on this board. I think had you looked you would have had plenty of warning about how they do business, in any case its nice to warn others.

A forward-thinking company would see the stair nosing issue as another opportunity and get busy making it an available item.

bus driver,

Agreed...

Several companies have picked up the ball and are making door 'threshold' moldings and other trim items to match manufactured hardwood flooring and laminate products. The problem for these companies is distribution; their products must be available in the normal distribution channels or be visible enough in other venues to make their offerings truly available.

I have seen a decent selection of nosings and trim profiles in some big box stores...not everything, but the most popular 'colors' that blend with floors they sell. I doubt that you will find a good selection in most small flooring stores.

As I am quite sure that you know, the fact that a good portion of the hardwood flooring that the American consumer buys today is manufactured overseas and comes to the country in containers of massive shipments is part of the problem. Any of the marketing giants involved in this are selling 'widgets' and the accessory items are not really a concern as there is not enough profit in providing or selling those. They are not going to put expensive accessories into their warehouses and then have them sit there for years. Even when hardwood flooring for the American consumer was just about exclusively made in America, accessory items were even then difficult to get...and when you could get them they were very expensive. Most distributors would order them for you, but they would not usually have them in stock because of the high cost of the items.

What is happening to our manufacturing capability is unfortunate for the American worker and consumer. Some people are making vast sums in selling 'widgets' from overseas. Do I see this as a positive thing? Absolutely not!

I'm pretty sure the guy that runs the local LL here, went to the same training coarse.

I guess I am one of a few that had a good experience with LL. Sorry you had such bad luck with them.

PS - We did buy unfinsished trim pieces from Lowes/HD and finished to match.
