Carpeting over concrete slab

| Hi, I'm finishing off by 2 season sunporch into a 4 season and removing the sliders separating it from the dining room. It has a concrete slab under it and just about the same level as the wood floors in the house. To save money, I just want to put carpet down in the sunporch. I have heard different stories about what I have to do to the concrete (if anything) first: seal it with special paint? Also I can't afford to put radiant heat under it but are there better pads to use over concrete?
