cheap Laminate over tile

So here is the deal. it's a small two person home, not a lot of traffic. Home depot has a great deal on some closeout cheap oak laminate flooring.

I have a major deal with a really nice house that is dated in the kitchen area with tons of white tile on floor and countertops that looks good in pics, but I hate. My adult son that fancies himself a designer thinks I should put down a floating laminate floor over the hole thing (the tile). So below is a few pics of the way it is now and the way it will look with the flooring - love some comments.

I'm not a decorator, but I think the color of the laminate is too close to the cupboards. I would go with a darker, red mahogany color to compliment the paint.
And, from my own experience, having a slow leak from my dishwasher that ruined the laminate in my kitchen, you should probably go with some vinyl application, like Allure flooring, which is moisture resistant. Just my 2 cents.

I agree with the color being too close. If you are going to keep the counter tops, maybe try to match the grout color or the paint color as already mentioned.
