With your moisture issues, the more important choice here is the pad under the carpet. You want the best, most waterproof pad that you can find. Any lower medium grade nylon or smartstrand over that will be fine if you like how it feels and looks. Brand isn't that important for that. Yeah, wear rating comes into it, but not for a bedroom. That's for a high traffic zone like a family room.

I don't think Shaw does any more promos for salesmen than any other industry player. Most sales people like dealing with them though because of after sale support. They are decent to deal with on a claim, and that support can make a big difference in how sales people view a product. It's better to deal with a supportive manufacturer and a lesser quality product than a better product that the manufacturer doesn't support. I'm not saying that Shaw puts out a lesser quality product here though. Just speculating that the difference in recommendation is due to the after sale support that they are known for.

Thank you. We put a sealer on the slab. Is that enough or do we need the special pad also? The rep at Shaw said just put a sealer on for the wood flooring, or use 3 in 1 adhesive. So we put sealer on the concrete that will be carpeted and will use the 3 in 1 for the concrete that will have wood on it.
