| We are finishing a section of the basement to use as my jewelry/glass studio. The floor is below grade concrete it is cold but I would always wear shoes for safety. What would be a good finish for the floor? The rest of the basement is pad and polyester carpet. The room is 11x25. I have not had any moisture issues but a few areas of efflorescence. I would like it to be fire resistant, look good easily cleaned and affordable.
Any suggestions? Thanks Kelli in Alaska |

| This is a work area, right? You mentioned fire resistance, are you working with hot materials that could potentially damage a floor? If so, you might consider just painting the floor. Add anti-fatigue mats at workstations. The next step up would be commerical vinyl tiles. Cheap and relatively easy to install assuming the floor is flat. |

| If you are seeing efflorescence, you do have moisture. |
