no there should not be that many gaps in your floor. especially brand new.

you might get a couple and for that you can fill those with filler. but if you truly have as many as you say you do then you need to start questioning the product or the install.

engineered floors are suppose to be more stable than solid and shouldn't move too much. a little bit but not enough to create all those gaps within the first couple of months.

talk to your builder, and if need be get someone from the manufacture out too. I don't have enough info to say its the installers fault or the product so I wont go as far as saying its one or the other.

How long was the house under HVAC before the floors came in? What about how long they were acclimated before being put down? Looks like they were put in when the humdiity was high, and now that it's winter and drying out, you're getting gaps.

The boards were left in the house for several days before install, might have been around a week. I've read in a couple of places that engineered floors don't shrink as much as full hardwood floors so would two dozen or so gaps be normal from shrinking?

Perhaps the flooring was taken out of the boxes and acclimated during high humidity and prior to the HVAC system operating. Now that the heat is on the boards may be losing the moisture they took up when acclimating to the house environment. As stated in another post regarding engineered wood flooring, it is usually best to unwrap and unbox engineered as it is being installed. However, always follow the flooring manufacturers instructions regarding acclimation.
