In SF Bay Area, better bamboo floor choices than Cali Bamboo?

We are just looking for some affordable durable non-laminate, non-tile material, and found a natural stranded woven wide plank floor from Cali Bamboo. So far, we have not found any negative reviews on Cali Bamboo; their customer service is very responsive; and the floor has 5000+ Jenka rating (off the chart). So all is good.

But before we put down the money to make the purchase (at ~$4.50/sp ft + $400+ freight charge), I want to check to see if there are other floors out there that offer better value for the price.

After all, we are right in the middle of a remodel and budget is tight. LL does sell some stranded bamboo for cheaper, but for some reason, I don't have confidence in their product. Am I just biased (because of some bad reviews of LL)?

Would appreciate any input.

    Hi, mudworm!
    Did you choose to use Cali Bamboo flooring after all? Are you happy with it?

    Ha, GW notification worked! Haven't been to GW for a while. Yes, we used Cali Bamboo and are happy with it. Got the look we liked.

    That being said, it is a plant based floor after all, so I have one edge that swelled up due to water pooling and a couple of dents when my husband dropped tools from a ladder. Not the floor's fault.

    Ambient Bamboo has been selling bamboo flooring for longer than Cali Bamboo. They have a great selection and I'm seriously impressed with customer service as well. I highly recommend!

    Hi mudworm! After 7 years, are you still pleased with your choice of Cali Bamboo? We are looking at it and it is hard to find decent reviews given that most people review when they are unhappy.

    Got notification, and haven't been here for years and surprised that I still remember my password. @Suzanne Reagan , yes, after 7 years, the floor still looks good. No wear marks. That said, we only have a few cats, and no dog at all, and we, two adults, are very light on the floor wear and tear. YMMV.

    Nikkiee, we aren't using the bamboo. After going back and forth and back and forth (SO many times!) we decided to do hickory. The guy at the flooring store that sells bamboo was VERY adamant that he wouldn't use bamboo. We live in Florida and have a big crawlspace under our 100 year old house and that has a lot to do with why we decided against it.

    Nikkiee, I am SURE it will be fine! My issues are BIG drooly dogs, humidity, heavy appliances (like 700 for the fridge and about the same for the range), sandy roads... I am sure you aren't dealing with ANY of these issues! I can't wait to hear how it goes!!!!! <3

    @Nikkiee Cruz Great to hear!

    Thank you so much for your reply and for the picture, very helpful. Cute pupper too!

    Now I'm seriously considering this option. My contractor initially priced LVP install, hope he can do floating bamboo for around the same price...

    ....and the attention to detail provided by Cali Bamboo ^^ reps is why you want to stick with brand names when it comes to specialty products. If you want bamboo, don't shop at LL. If you want cork, don't shop with Build Direct.

    When we, the specialized sales/technical support, sell a product (I'm a cork flooring specialist) we are sure to be the best place to find information on our special products.

    This thread has been very helpful. I’m wondering if anyone has experience with Plyboo stranded stiletto flooring. We are doing a new build near San Antonio (humidity is 63-71).
