I have spent quite a bit of time testing different Rubio Monocoat colors and combinations of colors and can't seem to come up with a light color that is clear (lets the beauty of the wood shine through) without being too amber. I'm wondering if I will have to go to a water based poly (for example, Bona Naturale) to get the clarity I'm looking for. I really don't want to do that because I've read that even that matte finish still has a laminate or plastic look. Can anyone suggest which of the finishes similar to Rubio (Osmo, etc.) might be the closest to giving me the look I'm trying for? (We will be using red oak.)
