| I'm considering replacing the carpet in my formal LR & DR with stone tile. I've been online pricing/researching, and the cost of white marble and white granite is comparable. I know that polished granite likely has a lot more 'staying power' with moderate maintenance than marble does, but I've always viewed granite to be a more rugged, informal stone than marble, so am not sure it would work in a formal transitional-style LR & DR. The stone I'm currently considering are either a white marble with minimal veining or a white/grey granite with a very fine grain.
Would you put a granite in a formal LR/DR? If it makes any difference, the rest of the downstairs flooring is a Walnut-finished laminate that has been mistaken for HW by every visitor we've had for the past 10 yrs. and porcelain tile in the laundry. |
