| We are building a home in a new construction development and we don't love any of the builders upgrades to hardwoods. We are considering a 5" handscraped, engineered, hickory wood floors. But the vendor/installer mentioned that wider woods in new construction can mean warping as the house settles and as the moisture expands and contracts the wood. Is this true? Is there a way to avoid this? We will be installing a central humidifier in the home will this help?

| Doesen't make any sense at all. None. Engineered wide boards with climate / humidity control will work excellent. If the house settles to the point where the wood buckles ... then you have a much bigger problem then the wood. Find a different installer. |
