am i being too picky

i specifically went with the highest bid and let him know i was doing so because i wanted a good job

i'll try to post the pics w/photbucket and let them speak for themselves

i dont know if this is normal or if i'm just being picky

here are a few things that were said

i said... i thought u r supposed to use waterproof-mold/mildew resistant caulk in a bathroom
they said... we dont have it

i said... how come the base shoe is white under the cabs
they said... we only install white

i said... why is there quarter round (fat quarter round mind you) instead of the base shoe thats in the rest of the house and what i wanted
they said... thats all they gave us

i said... how come there's no caulk or transition in the laundry closet
they said... its just a laundry closet

i was told by "joe" the sales guy the installers would take about 5 days, after the 3rd day the installers were in such a hurry to get done because they had to start another job. they ended up coming a 4th day but only for the morning and were like a tornado and kept saying "we have to get to the other job, we have to get to the other job"

i had to run to home depot (sick) and get proper caulk and more base shoe!

I think you need to call the company directly, not the installers. I ran into a situation once where this "company" who did insulation work hired out from a work source. No one from the company came out to check the work and the installers did the same thing; they were in a hurry to get to the next project. They didn't finish and I got a second demand for payment and I told them you guys aren't even finished yet!

I would just write a complaint to the BBB. Or just tell everyone not to work with them.

Go back to the company, not the contractors.

Give them a WRITTEN list, and send it certified mail and document everything - time, date, who you spoke with. Be NICE though.

Many times it's more to do with communication - if you don't ask, they don't say. We had roofing done which didn't include new flashing. It wasn't in our contract. It was something I never asked about, I assumed. That's why I ask around whenever I hire a new contractor.

Also, highest bid does not mean best work. In fact, I think that's pretty rare. References, word of mouth is best.

Angie's list is helpful when trying to find the best contractors, if not word of mouth.

Good luck. You seem overwhelmed.

You might have to reach a point where you decided to fire these contractors and hire someone who will provide the quality that meets your expectations.

I think they are super shady. What a nightmare. But I would pass on the trim near the toilet. Whoever built the condo placed it too close to the wall. Even so, my elderly mom could do a better measurement on the trim.

I read your other post about the company being the inspectors of their work...If you don't get satisfaction I would report to the BBB.
