1/3 offset pattern?

Is this a 1/3 offset tile pattern? If not, what pattern is it? I had asked for 1/3 offset of 12x24 tiles and this is how it was installed. The salesperson says this is in fact 1/3 offset, and if it were installed without that 2/3 setback, the surface would be too uneven. It is installed over Gypcrete so the surface was very smooth to begin with.

Yes I would call that a 1/3 offset. I've seen it done a couple ways - this way and then one where the pattern creates a "stair step" effect. Many large format tile manufacturers suggest a 1/3 offset to mitigate any lippage created by uneven tiles.
