Weathered Wood

I love the look of the French White Oak Hardwood. I don't think it is in my budget. So.. I am looking at wide plank pine. Is there a way to stain pine so that it isn't so yellow or orange?

I would like for it to have the weathered wood color? Whitewash?

There are several commercially available stains that mimic the look of weathered wood. Then you add several coats of your clear water-based non-yellowing topcoat and you are done.
