Transitional Threshold

We are having carpet installed in a all season sunroom. We will install a transition piece between the sunroom and the kitchen. Does the transition piece go in before the carpet, or after. It would be easier to do before carpet. The transition piece is 8'by 6". There is about a 1' drop between the kitchen and sunroom.

Definitely before. Otherwise how will the carpet guy have anything to cut it to.
