Best time to install hardwood in the southwest?

We have had solid 3/4" Brazilian walnut stacked in their boxes in our dry basement for about two years. We are getting closer to a DIY install. The RH is about 35% which is about as high as it gets here. With the forced air furnace on in winter, it goes down to about 15%. I would love to hear how others are faring with their floors in really dry climates. What is the best time of year to install? Given that the wood has been here for two years, is it really necessary to get a moisture meter? Thanks.
