You don't treat it any differently than solid wood or laminate. The care requirements are the same. Dust mop or vacuum it only as regular maintenance. If you have spills, sop them up as quick as you can with clean towels and then use a bit of wood floor cleaner with a wrung out damp mop. Bona or Bruce would be good brands for that. Damp as in you can't extract any more moisture from it. No water sloshing across the floor, and definitely no oil to contaminate it and attract dirt!

With pets, you may want to damp mop it with a wood floor cleaner every couple of weeks, but don't use any topical treatment at all. Only wood floor cleaner. NEVER any "refreshers" or "orange" anything and no oil soap. In 7-8 years, if the shine has begun to dull a bit in the traffic paths, you may have it screened and recoated. That's NOT refinishing it. It's merely abrading the top coat enough to have another top coat stick to it. It is about as much trouble as refinishing it though as everything has to come out of the room, etc.

I've had my hardwood for a year & my favorite tool is my Bissell Power Edge pet vacuum. I have 2 shedding Springers & have to sweep daily. This machine was $49 & it's amazing how much dust & hair it collects everyday! It is corded, but works great for me. I also use a green something (?) dust mop from time to time around the baseboards & under furniture. I was told as above to only use wood cleaner like Bona. I do that about once a week, because of paw prints. I use the Rubbermaid micro fiber mop. I love that with hardwood, when it's clean it is clean. Nothing hiding anywhere like a carpet. With 2 ancient mutts it only stays clean for 10 minutes though! Enjoy your floor.
