A relative with a high ranch is looking for a low cost floor to replace flooded carpet that she removed. The lower level can still get wet from any leaks from the downstairs bathroom or boiler room. She is considering Pergo XP or Hampton Bay from Home Depot. Is this the product she wants or is there something else? Wood, ceramic tile and high end products are too expensive. She is on a limited budget and wants to keep her costs low.
Also, with Pergo XP, does she still have to install a vapor barrier on the slab?
