wood floor upkeep

Kathy Harrington

We are building a new home and I have decided on solid wood flooring in the main living areas. I have never had solid wood flooring, but it is the floor of choice in the new area I am building, which is a cold climate with a basement. Right now, in a hot humid climate on a slab foundation, I have slate and travertine as well as some Bruce engineered hardwood. In my current home, I find that the wood takes more time to look good than the stone floors. Granted, It is 17 years and needs to be refinished, but I hesitate to refinish due to all the dust and mess. Tell me how you keep up your wood floors and if it is easy? or should I do stone again?
