 o
bathroom flooring question

I will be putting in floor heating (electric) in my bathroom and finishing with with ceramic tiles. My question is what order do I put the following materials?

backerboard
self-leveling cement
in-floor heating wires

I have read conflicting opinions on when to apply the self leveling cement. Should it go under the backerboard (on the plywood) or should it just be poured on after the wires are installed on the backerboard?

RE: bathroom flooring question

The purpose of the SLC is to make an even floor to trowel the thinset onto. So you put the backerboard down, then attach the wires, then pour the SLC over them.

You should use thinset between the plywood subfloor and the backerboard, then screw every 8".
