Best bet for "classic" wood flooring

Hi, I am buying a new home that has five different floors on the main floor. To make the house feel more cohesive, I am thinking about replacing all the flooring. The house is a new house with a traditional feel, though not overly so, and I prefer the feel and details of an older home. Money is of course an issue, but I would prefer hardwood, at least 3.25 wide and a medium tone with a satin finish.

Can anyone recommend attractive and durable wood options and good flooring companies? Is real hardwood so much more expensive than engineered? Should I go even wider, around 4 inches? What is the best installation method? I am overwhelmed with the different options. If I decide to do this, I want to do it right! Thank you so much for your help,
