Some of my oak floor boards are over 14 ft long?

My house was built in 1960 and has oak floors. The boards run up to just over 14 feet long and in some of the rooms there are solid peices that run the entire span of the area.
If i ever needed to get some peices replaced, would i have a hard time finding boards that are several feet long?

You can get long lengths at lumber mills. I got a roomful of 16' white oak flooring a couple of years ago. The supplier sells hardwoods for cabinetmakers but they also do custom milling.

What reason might there be to replace a board? I'm not an expert, but I can't think of one.

You would call in the services of a wood flooring expert and he or she would be able to perform any repair you might need.

To replace a sungle board of 10+ ft will be expensive to have milled. If you would be looking for a cheaper means a professional could rip out that long board and replace it with a series of smaller pices.
