nails and polyurethane

I'm finally getting close to applying the finish on my floor. I'm planning to do a whitewash followed by 3 coats of Minwax oil-modified polyurethane.

Now that I've sanded the floor, some of the nails that I countersunk or otherwise couldn't get out of the floor are at the surface. Do I need to countersink these further and follow with wood filler? If I leave them at the surface and do the whitewash/polyurethane coat over them, will they rust?

Thanks in advance!
