Addition subfloor height

We're going to build an addition onto our house off the kitchen. it will house the laundry room, a powder room, and an office.

The kitchen floor layers are:
3/4" 1x8s on the diagonal as a subfloor
3/4" hardwood that we were unsuccessful in making pretty
1/4" underlayment
sheet vinyl

The addition will have the same sheet vinyl as the kitchen.

Should we make the addition subfloor even with the kitchen subfloor (requiring a 2nd layer of plywood) or with the kitchen hardwood? The latter would certainly be easier, it just seems like it might be "proper" to do the former, because it would allow for more options for changing the floor by a future homeowner.
