That is what I have been told by several floor specialists. I am planning on laying a hardwood floor with an oil rubbed finish for two reasons. One is the one you mentioned and the second reason; is the light coming into the room. We are located on the beach with a lot of light coming into the room. An oil rubbed floor doesn't effect the look of the wood. Whereby when the light reflects upon a finished flooring even in matte, all you see is light reflecting off the urethane. From a distance it looks like a linoleum or laminate floor.
