Asbestos testing for linoleum adhesive?

Hi everyone,

Our house was built in 1980, which apparently is right on the cusp of when asbestos was banned from use in linoleum adhesive.

It was recommended that we get a sample of the adhesive tested before removal (we are replacing the kitchen linoleum with tile).

We can tear up a sample from under the sink, but have no idea where to send it for testing or who to contact.

Appreciate any help!

The asbestos was one of the raw materials incorporated in the white-colored sheet vinyl backings. To my knowledge asbestos was never incorporated into the linoleum adhesive, what we called "organic linoleum paste"...

Organic linoleum paste is brown in color, brittle when dry and dissolves in warm water. Latex (multipurpose) adhesives are cream colored, flexible and resistant to dissolving in water when the film has dried. As far as I know, asbestos wasn't incorporated into those either.
