I have quite a bit of used flooring. It strikes me that reclaiming quality flooring is a sustainable practice with the right economics. We've cleaned the edges and have verified 1/4" wear layer remains, but I'm concerned about the 1/16" height mismatch I've seen in a sample area we tried. It's not usually near that much based on our sample, but I'm sure it will happen occasionally. Is this too much for the normal sanding that is done on a new or old floor? I assume this much mismatch would require a drum sander? (I'd rather not stick them through a planer first.) Thanks.
