Losing confidence in Shaw laminate

Shaw Flooring had a Roadshow at Costco this weekend. I have been contemplating removing the carpet and having laminate planks installed. My concern is my cat who sometimes throws up. Laminate was recommended but I'm now having second thoughts. I have read more negative reviews than positive ones regarding Shaw laminates.

I'm scheduled for a home appointment to select a laminate style. Should I cancel and do carpet again?

Laminate seldom looks good long term. Its not an investiment. I've been looking at condos and the ones with laminates just don't seem very nice. If you go with carpet then go with Smartstrand or a PET fiber that is not affected by stomach acid from cat throw up. I have a cat and smartstrand holds up really well. Pure Nylon (stainmaster and others) specifically mention cat throw up as not covered by their warranty.
