Removing stains from a waxed softwood floor??

I've got pine plank flooring, factory finished with two coats of hard wax.
Long story short is I've got some sort of an ink stain- 2" by about 4 feet long in a very visible location right inside the front door.
Soap and water did nothing(it was suggested by the factory and has worked on every other issue till now). I'm pretty sure it managed to soak in through the wax.
Any ideas on how to deal with it?
Is there a miracle product? Or must it be sanded down and refinished?
I can't believe this is happening... Thanks for any tips!
