Clay tile floor in cape cod kitchen?

All the floors in our NH cape cod are oak or pine from its first renovation 70 years ago except the kitchen, which is linoleum. We're updating the kitchen this year, and I just assumed we'd be replacing the linoleum with oak. But now that we're falling in love with natural cherry cabinets, I'm beginning to worry that wood cabs with wood floors might be just too much wood. It's a small kitchen, but full of light, and we'd break up the cabs with a some glass doors as well. But still...

So I've been thinking about 4" square hand made terra cotta tiles with dark gray grout for the floor instead. Here's a picture of the wood sample with the tile sample.

Any opinions on whether a tile floor would be out of character for a cape cod in the North Country?
