Need to know the direction the floor runs.
Is the wood running into the carpet? Or is the wood running along the capet?

I get the feeling its running into the carpet which will make it damn near impossible to blend perfectly unless the exposed wood was refinished in the last 2 weeks or so.

If the wood is running along the carpet you can simply refinish right up to it.

But if was my house i would either live with the carpet until your ready to refinish the kitchen again.

Thank you for the reply. The floor is running into the carpet but where the kitchen door is the wood runs parallel with the door frame. We keep going back and forth with whether to refinish the wood floors throughout the whole house. Refinishing all the floors seems the wisest choice but the most daunting when factoring the time crunch to move, the list of other things that need to get done and no experience tackling this sort of project.
