vinyl flooring/ pipe holes

We are almost ready to lay our new flooring for our kitchen remodel. We have 12x24" groutable vinyl tiles. We also need a new hole in our floor for a gas pipe (for our new gas stove). We aren't sure if we can just install the floor completely and THEN use a bit to drill our hole, or if it's better to drill the hole first, then install the tiles/cut a hole in them to match up with what we drilled.

Obviously it'd be easier to just drill a hole, I guess I just didn't know if drilling with those circle-hole saw bit things (technical term) would damage the flooring. Of course it's going to be behind the stove... but I like things done neatly when it's possible!
