We are buying Shaw PET carpet (twist) with Scotchguard 1/2" densified urethane foam pad. 5 bedrooms and closets, hallway, 2 common rooms, 13 stairs. We have a 5 y.o. son and an 11 y.o. 45# dog.

The 2 choices we have are essentially the same carpet but with different face weight, density, & pile height.

Option 1:
FW = 56
Density = 3639
Pile height = 0.625"
$5183 installed

Option 2:
FW = 76
Density = 3748
Pile height = 0.72"
$6003 installed

Is it worth $820 (15%) to upgrade to Option 2?
