It's not supposed to be slick smooth, but it shouldn't be rough so as to catch sock or panty hose fibers, for examples. It also should not be rough so as to collect soil and dirt.

Did they do any intercoat abrasion? Some abrading to knock down grain raise is part of the job. Some abrade between the coat of sealer and finish, and others abrade between one of the two finish coats. Three coats of Traffic over sealer is more than the general recommendation. How many coats were done in a day?

Yeah i tend to agree. Three coats of traffic if applied properly along with prepping the floor correctly shouldnt leave you with a rough feeling floor. Glennfc is right when saying its not going to be bartop smooth but it definitely shouldn't be consistently gritty.

Is it rough in a few spots or is it consistently bad all over the floor?
If its just spot or two it could have just been a dirty environment while the last coat went down.

I asked for the extra coat of traffic as I wanted the extra protection.....getting older and don't want to do it again. As I said, the floors ( two bedrooms) look great, but look to me , in the light, as though the dust settled in the last coat somewhat. It is slightly rough to run a hand over, but probably not to snag a swiffer.

Sorry, Forgot to answer the rest of the question .
They applied the sealer and one coat of finish in one day, the second finish coat the next and the third today. They sanded by hand in between finish coats.
