Newly finished strip flooring

We are renovating our kitchen. This past week our new oak strip floor was stained and finished with 2 coats of "Bona Traffic". Two days after the finish had been applied, the carpenters put down and taped a section with brown paper. Now it is the weekend, and it is still taped down. Should I be concerned that the newly finished floor has not had time to cure?

Covering the floor is not a huge concern. I generally like to see all the floor covered opposed to just a section.

What concerns me more is taping directly to the floor. Never ever tape directly to a wood floor.

It might be okay. But i suggest wait until your contractor comes back and have them pull up the tape and then see if the tape pulled any finish up.

Fortunately you specified a finish that cures quickly. And that is just ONE good reason why refinishers " in the know" use these state of the art film-forming finishes.

I agree with gregmills. Although the finish was probably 80% cured when tape was applied, it would be a good idea to get it off the finish ASAP.

If by chance the tape did pull any finish off. Its not the end of the world. But it will require a buff and coat.
