Are these floors worth saving?

We are planning a main floor renovation and removing walls (in the red colour) and switching the family room and kitchen location. We already have some hardwood floors already installed (in the green colour, and in the directions marked). They are 3 1/4, white stained oak. There are some large gaps in between the wood in some areas. DH just wants to tear them all out and replace all with new hardwood but I'm wondering if we can save some part of the current family room and some of the foyer/hallway area and try to match and resand and restain all together. Some contractors say there's no point trying to salvage, some say its possible to keep some but it's just tedious to try and zigzag a few pieces out and try to match and restain and It may not be that much more cost effective. Some have also said that the gaps we have can be filled but still won't be as nice as I'd expect.

Thank you all for your advice and suggestions.
