Help with hardwood flooring decision

I want to install hand scraped acacia, 4.5 inch wide in my family room, dining room, living room, and study. I absolutely love that wood. But the breakfast area, walkway in front of family room and the kitchen have already 2.5" builder oak flooring installed. It should not be an issue in dining room, living room, and the study flow wise as there is tile outside these in the lobby.. I am concerned about the family room though. Two different shades and width of woods!! Has anyone done it? Will it look odd? One idea I had was install a 12" perimeter of marble or travertine tile in the family room, then install wood flooring to give some sort of separation!! Am I getting paranoid for no reason! I will highly appreciate the help before I make a costly decision.
