Need help with kitchen floor

I am in the process of planing my kitchen Reno. My whole house basically has a wood laminate floor installed about 10 years ago. I have a multi level house and the kitchen and dining room are on the same floor. They are parallel to one another. My DR has the wood laminate, kitchen has linoleum.
I was originally thinking I was going to tile the kitchen but it's not what I really want.
I can't afford to redue all floors in house, but was thinking about engenireed hardwood for both kitchen and DR ( I do love the hand scraped look)!
Thoughts on the wood floors throughout not matching? Any recommendations on a quality engenireed hardwood floor possibly hand scraped look?

Get some samples and start beating them up and see which one handles the best. That's what we did. We did our whole house, minus bath, in laminate that looks like wood. With 4 kids, lots of entertaining , heavy traffic and a dog, ours looks amazing!! The brand we used was Quick Step.
We just helped at a friend's house, where they did the handscraped engineered wood in the bedrooms and already they are scratched up. Eeeek!
They have tile that looks like wood, maybe that would be best in the kitchen.
