BrazilianCherry Wood Floor in Kitchen

Hi,
We are trying to select a hardwood floor for our new house, the areas that we are planning to have Brazilian cherry wood floor are Kitchen, living room, formal dining room.
I liked the Brazilian cherry wood, but I am not sure what kind of cabinets and granite will go well in kitchen with the dark Brazilian cherry floor.
If anyone have pictures of kitchen with Brazilian cherry wood floor, that would be very helpful for us.
Also I would like to know when we compare red oak and Brazilian cherry which one is better in durability wise.
Thanks,
Sanju

We have BC throughout our 1st floor including the kitchen. We have painted cabinets so can't help on what would go well with them.

I am sure you have heard that BC floors are durable (they are to dents and scrapes) but because it is a dark wood, they do show dust and dirt. We end up having to vacum or mop pretty frequently but they sure look great.

RE: BrazilianCherry Wood Floor in Kitchen

When we were building our new home I had my heart set on BC wood floors throughout, including the kitchen. When we were trying to choose kitchen cabinets, a lot of the woods clashed with the BC floors. I would have thought that natural cherry cabinets would work well with the BC, but I was wrong. I did like the painted cabinets (especially off white) with the BC -- it looks fabulous. However, since we really liked the natural cherry cabinets, we decided to change the flooring to Brazilian Teak (Cumaru) and they went together very well.

My suggestion is to take a good sized sample of your floor to the kitchen designer and put it up against their cabinet samples. You'll know which ones clash with the floor right away.
