I'M having the same problems with flooring. I want the old look too, but can't find flooring for my budget. I really don't like the pre finished or the beveled edges.

I have 2400 sq ft to install and a 20,000.00 budget for material and labor, plus 300sq ft of tile to install in tahe budget, oh and stairs.

Lumber Liquidators have 5" red and white oak for around 2.59 unfinished, but I have to tell you I am really afraid to go wiht LL.

I've been trying to find lumber yards for flooring around me withou much luck.

I do know of a company in West Virginia where I live that has reclaimed lumber. Red and White oak mixed with a mixture of 3" 4"and 5" planks for $5.53 a sq ft or $6.63 prefinished with Rubio monocoat oil, might want to check them out you can look them up online at Renick Millworks, com don't know about shipping but it couldnt hurt to try .
I know that have wider widths that would be less than $15 sq ft.
