1950's Fake Marble

We recently purchased a 1950's home with a black and white marble looking material in the entry and long halls. The material looks like marble, feels like marble, but seems to be some sort of stone material with a polymer type coating. Does anyone have any information about this material from the mid 1950's?

sounds like this product. This is a local product I see at home shows locally. Sounds the same

It's perhaps terrazzo?
Made like a concrete with small aggregates of colored stones, then polished and sealed. Usually would have thin bands of brass between the different colors.
