Is sponge rubber (waffled) pad really premium??

I stepped on a nice frieze carpet at HD with the rebond pad and then the red rubber waffle padding. the latter had more of a "cushy feel". is this a high quality product and how does it hold up compared to the rebond? i'd prefer to pay a little more if it feels more comfortable.
