Floating floor over indoor/outdoor stuff?

Posted by Caland (My Page) on

A home I'm looking to possibly purchase has indoor/outdoor type carpet in some weird places--like the kitchen. I'm sure this is glued down.

I'm guessing a subfloor would raise it much too high. I hate the idea of pulling it up and, given the era of home, I'm concerned about what might be under it (like asbestos).

What are my options to cover it? Could I do a floating type floor directly over the indoor/outdoor stuff?
