Oaks floors

I'm building a new house. The floors are pre-finished red oak. The staircase treads were made by the builder, also red oak. Unfortunately, the prefinished floor and the made-by-the-builder treads do not match at all.

The builder says the oak will oxidize and the floor and stairs will eventually look the same.

If both surfaces are "oxidizing," won't they still come out in different colors?

Thoughts, people? I'd appreciate help here.

Can you post a picture of the two side by side?

Since i dont have more info im gonna take a shot in the dark
Are both the treads and floor suppose to be natural in color?

Prefinish manufactures generally use a heavy pigmented stain to try to achieve a more uniform look since most woods carry a lot of color variation and your builder probably just used some polyurethane.

I bet if you were to sand half yoyr floor and apply poly to it it would look drastically different to the prefinish.

Now like i said its just a hunch until we get more info from you.

The other possiblilty is your builder did a piss poor job matching color or a bad finish ( used water bourne urethane vs polyurethane)
