Stain for Red Oak Hardwood Floors

I am really struggling with what stain to use on our hardwood floors. We are refinishing them next week and wanting to change them from their current state (an orangy-pine color) to a mid-tone brown. I have done samples but it's hard to imagine what my floors will look like! I'm afraid of undertones, especially orange. Can anyone provide pictures of their floors or recommend a stain that they just love? My floors are red oak, 2 1/4 inch planks. Thanks in advance :)

Hire someone who can give you what you want. Staining hardwood is successful when an appropriate sanding schedule (grit sequence) is done and the floor water popped, if that is what the contractor decides will give you the look you're after.

Once the floor is stained the color you want, then coat with a non-yellowing quality waterborne polyurethane.

Ask for samples!
