We've just pulled up a cheap vinyl floor from our basement bathroom because mold was growing under it and was showing through the floor. We've never had a water problem in this basement and the concrete is about 30 years old. We've scraped up all the mastic and had thought of going with ceramic tile, but are interested in what you all have to say. This room is not used a lot, but is finished nicely and we'd like to floor to look nice also.

Acid stain the concrete, or you can score the concrete to resemble tiles and then stain it. www.acidstain.com look at the picture gallery

Is that a DIY project, or should it be hired out? Some of those floors are beautiful. What would be the best covering? Vinyl tile, ceramic?
